Washington, DC – Trade associations representing the nation’s food retailers, food manufacturers and restaurants today launched a series of infographics that represent the key findings of a new analysis, the 2014 Analysis of U.S. Food Waste among Food Manufacturers, Retailers and Restaurants. The infographics offer context and explanation around their respective industry waste streams:

The Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA), Food Marketing Institute (FMI) and National Restaurant Association (NRA) represent three big trade associations tackling one big problem: food waste. Together they founded the Food Waste Reduction Alliance, an industry-led initiative focused on reducing food waste by increasing food donation and sending unavoidable food waste to productive use (energy, composting, etc.) and away from landfills.
